The Rheinmetall wheeled howitzer, designed for the HX3 10×10 truck chassis, is a long-range self-propelled artillery system.<\/p>\n

The core element of the wheeled howitzer is the fully automatic, electrically driven Artillery Turret with a digitally controlled Ammunition Handling System.<\/p>\n

The high degree of automation of the Artillery Turret allows a reduction of the crew to two persons, who receive fire missions and commands which are executed and monitored from the protected truck cabin.<\/p>\n

Being a wheeled vehicle, recoil forces are a challenge, so the truck features a hydropneumatic suspension system capable of locking out to minimise recoil effects.<\/p>\n

The link between the Artillery Turret and the highly agile Rheinmetall HX3 10×10 tactical truck is the Artillery Turret Platform with outriggers.<\/p>\n

Supashock\u2019s Artillery Turret Interface (ATI) provides additional stability for firing of the turret on uneven ground.<\/p>\n

The ATI is a system of outrigger stabilisers that incorporates a damping system to reduce oscillations and control the motion of the truck, preventing the standard truck suspension from jockeying when an artillery round is fired.<\/p>\n

The stabilisers are automatically stowed aboard the HX3 10×10 truck and are deployed prior to firing of the turret.<\/p>\n

The use of stabilisers enhances the range and accuracy for a variety of guns that are available for the Rheinmetall artillery system, and allows for high chamber-pressure guns to be fired at varying elevations and traverse angles.<\/p>\n

The overall deployment time of the artillery system is under 20 seconds, including the deployment of the ATI system.<\/p>\n
