ADELAIDE-based advanced manufacturer Supashock Defence Technologies will add 25 engineers and other staff to its growing workforce after securing a lucrative contract to export its world-leading missile launch technology.<\/p>\n

Supashock and its partner, German defence giant Rheinmetall, announced the contract on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

As part of the two-year deal, Supashock will supply to Rheinmetall 84 retractable missile launch pods, which are fitted into the turret of tanks or other armoured fighting vehicles.<\/p>\n

They have been designed to withstand vibration and shock during travel, or when performing manoeuvres in combat, but can be locked when firing, thereby increasing strike precision.<\/p>\n

The missile launch pods will be exported to an unnamed NATO country.<\/p>\n

Supashock chief executive Oscar Fiorinotto said the contract would generate 25 new direct jobs for the company, while supporting an additional 85 roles across the local supply chain.<\/p>\n

He said the company now had a missile launcher production pipeline worth more than $20m. \u201cThe landmark technology development brings a new and unique industry niche to the state of South Australia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis contract from Rheinmetall will further boost Supashock\u2019s export activities and cements the capability of our sovereign defence industry. Supashock is proud to play our role in Australian IP development and manufacturing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Supashock employs about 120 engineers and other workers at its Holden Hill facility.<\/p>\n
