Lynx KF41 Running Gear
Supashock’s Lynx running gear is a high-capability suspension system designed for Rheinmetall’s Lynx family of next-generation tracked combat vehicles. The Lynx is designed for complex and unpredictable battlefield conditions and offers maximum freedom of action and outstanding mobility.
Supashock’s running gear system a key ingredient of Lynx’s unbeatable mobility and enhances the capability of the Lynx in several areas:
- Improves all-terrain handling and stability,
- Enhances ride comfort resulting in reduced driver and occupant fatigue,
- Versatile performance and functions that support all Lynx mission modules without compromising mobility,
- Proven ability to perform in extreme conditions,
- Proven mobility performance, machine service life and thermal stability.
The Lynx running gear was designed, tested, validated and is manufactured and assembled at Supashock’s advanced manufacturing facility in South Australia.
Lynx Running Gear components
These components are the formula that gives Lynx the leading edge in combat mobility.
Semi-Active / Locking Damper
This bespoke damper reduces oscillation and automatically adjusts damping settings for different driving situations. In locking mode the damper creates a rigid and stable platform for logistics and load handling operations.
Passive Damper
The Passive Damper equalises vertical loads on the wheels and stabilises the motion of the track system.
Bump Stop
The Bump Stop controls the un-sprung weight of the vehicle, allowing more aggressive vehicle maneuvers under extreme conditions.
Active and Passive Track Tensioner
Active tensioner allows the track tension to be adjusted remotely from inside the protected cabin.
Idler Wheel Arm
Integrates with the Active and Passive Track Tensioner and facilitates operation of the track system.
Road Wheel Arm
Modular system anchored to the hull of the Lynx KF41 via a torsion bar.
Support Roller
Facilitates operation of the track system, allowing for greater speed and efficiency by supporting dynamic loads and movement.
Mobility is the largest contributor to battlefield survivability, even more-so than armor. A combat vehicle that is able to out-maneuver it’s enemy and escape swiftly has a greater chance of survival than one that is stuck in a dangerous situation.
Supashock’s running gear is highly dependable and has proven to perform in conditions ranging from -40 to 200 degrees Celsius.
The core of Supashock’s success has been its innovative approach to motion technology, developing revolutionary yet simple designs to increase efficiency and performance, enhance reliability, quality, durability, and service life.
Experts in design, simulation, lifecycle testing and the manufacture of advanced motion and autonomous systems, Supashock is proud to deliver tailored and innovative solutions for improved mobility, capability and safety in Defence and logistics applications.
