Brands Hatch, United Kingdom | 9-10 November 2019
Brabham Automotive has made a stunning debut by winning the first race of the Britcar ‘Into the Night’ Endurance Championship season finale at Brands Hatch in the UK.
Other high-performance vehicles in the field included the Ferrari 488, Porsche 997, Saker RAPX, BMW 1M E82, BMW Z4, and the VR Motorsport Praga R1T.
Drivers David Brabham and Will Powell led the way during qualifying, setting a fastest lap of 46.674, nearly 2 seconds ahead of the second place competitor. With Goodyear tyre specialists providing advice during the event, the switch between wet weather tyres and slicks proved to be crucial strategic decision, the result was a new fastest lap securing pole position for the Brabham team.
At night the race was run in cold conditions with steady rain, however drivers Will Powell and David Brabham consistently drove the BT62 with superb lap times, to take the Brabham team across the finish line first after one hour of racing.
It was an emotional day for David Brabham: “To come here and get our first race win is phenomenal. My Dad won here in 1966, in a Brabham, so for me to come here and win in a Brabham is a very emotional moment for me.
He goes on to state: “In terms of the journey that Brabham Automotive has been on to this point, it’s quite incredible.”
Supashock is extremely proud to be a supporter and supplier for the Brabham Automotive team, Founder and CEO Oscar Fiorinotto was very pleased with the BT62 win on debut .
We hope to see more race wins from the BT62 hypercar, a big congratulations goes to David Brabham and the Brabham Automotive Team.
